New Direct3D Title Generation Program Makes 3D Text Shine for Office Documents and Web Sites |

HANNOVER, GERMANY, March 13, 1997 รป Ulead Systems, a leading developer of imaging, video and Internet software, will unveil COOL 3D, a new Windows 95 tool for creating 3D text for web sites and presentations, at this year's fair. COOL 3D enables users to quickly create attention grabbing three dimensional titles and headlines for office and web documents. Scheduled for release in early May, the program will be available for on-line purchase with Internet delivery for US$49.95. "Ulead is a leader in imaging and video editing tools for the PC," said Dr. Liming Chen, President of Ulead Systems, Inc. "Our latest release of PhotoImpact already includes sophisticated 3D rendering of text and other objects, so making an easy-to-use stand-alone 3D tool with next generation features is a natural step for us. The advent of standards such as Direct3D is making it possible for us to create tools with the kind of responsiveness users want. With COOL 3D, we're giving individuals a simple yet powerful tool that will make their home pages and presentations stand out and communicate more effectively." One of the first creative tools to take advantage of Direct3D technology for responsive object manipulation and fast rendering, COOL 3D supports True Type fonts and provides visual drag-and-drop control for 3D attributes via an EasyPalette. COOL 3D also provides a wide range of preset styles and options enabling users to create stunning 3D headlines and titles quickly by just entering the desired text, selecting a font and dragging to a desired position and angle. In addition to text, use of symbol fonts makes it possible to create a wide range of 3D graphical objects for greater creative flexibility. For users wishing to experiment with finer-level changes, COOL 3D provides interactive adjustment for style, color, texture, camera view, lighting and other visual attributes. New adjustments can then be saved for reuse as user-defined presets in the EasyPalette. OLE2 and in-place editing makes integrating titles and headlines generated by COOL 3D into documents fast and user-friendly. After creating a title, users may render the title to the clipboard as a bitmap or an OLE object for direct incorporation in the target document. In-place editing allows users to access program functions within compliant applications to make changes even after an OLE title or headline has been placed. In addition to clipboard functions, COOL 3D supports rendering a high quality preview to screen and to the web standard formats GIF and JPEG as well as BMP and TGA. TGA format files provide alpha channel support with auto generation of background mattes and GIF files may be rendered with the background transparent.
